Hello from inside the Vortex. This is Brian writing this week’s newsletter, as Mary is currently visiting family in New Jersey for a week. Which means I’ve been left unsupervised, so if you stop in the store you may find more loud music and bourbon than normal.
If you were unable to make it to John R. Little’s signing here the store last weekend due to the hot rod show and the fact that the streets were shut down (we didn’t realize that the sidewalks became parking lots for the day, and will plan accordingly for next year), don’t worry. John was gracious enough to sign the remaining books, and we have them for sale here in the store and on our website. Fair warning, though — stock is limited. Between John sitting in as a surprise guest for last Friday’s monthly Writer’s Group, and the customers who couldn’t make it to the signing on Saturday and asked to have books signed and put aside for them, we only have less than five signed copies of each book left in stock. First come, first served.
Speaking of Johns, the official release party for John Urbancik’s new dark fantasy novel, The Secret History of the Palace Theater, takes place here in the store next Wednesday night from 5pm to 7pm. Light fare provided in case you’re hungry after work. Stop on by and get your copy signed. If you live out of state and can’t make it, you can preorder a signed copy on our website. Again, that’s next Wednesday, June 26.
And our biggest signing yet takes place on Saturday, June 29, as Ronald Malfi, Rebecca Rowland, L. Marie Wood, Jessica McHugh, Vaughn A. Jackson, Stephanie Pearre, Jessica L. Sparrow, and Ichabod Cassius Kilroy fill the store from 1pm to 4pm. Where are we going to put everybody? We don’t know! But it’s happening, regardless.
UNADVERTISED SALE
Between now and 5pm on Sunday, we’re running a secret 20% off special on ALL Dungeons & Dragons books and modules — both new and vintage. We are not advertising it, nor are we mentioning it on social media. The only people who know about it are the folks reading this newsletter. The only way you get the 20% off is to mention you saw this in the newsletter. Please note this discount does not apply to miniatures, dice, or non D&D games. It’s only valid on new and vintage rulebooks, modules, character sheets, etc. Discount applies only to purchases — store credit cannot be used in conjunction with this offer.
A note for all of our Magic the Gathering players. We are almost sold out of Modern Horizons III, and are unsure if we will be able to get more from our distributor or not. This has been an incredibly popular set here in store.
And don’t forget, Magic the Gathering this Sunday from noon to 4pm. Commander or standard, cards from any era welcome. We don’t charge admission to play. This is strictly casual.
Another friendly reminder to customers who have comic subscriptions here at the store. You are required to pick up the comics from your pull box at least once a month. New comics are not returnable, so if your box has several month’s worth of inventory sitting inside of it, that impacts the store’s bottom-line. Beginning July 1st, any pull-box that has more than a month’s worth of comics will be canceled. Thanks for your understanding.

PICK UP YOUR SUBS PEOPLES!!!
Comic shops don't do subs because it's fun and easy...
They do it for us...the fans and their clients.
The LEAST we can do, is pick up in a timely manner. They've got bills to pay that come due every single month...whether we pay for our books or not.
Fronting your collection doesn't help them pay those bills.
PICK UP YOUR BOOKS!
(And before you insert excuse [here]... if you can't honor your commitment, your comic shop shouldn't have to either)
