Happy 4th of July from all of us here at Vortex Books & Comics (and by all of us, we mean Brian, Mary, and sometimes John). A reminder to our local customers that we will be closed tomorrow — Thursday — in observance of the holiday.
But we’ve got a surprise for you when we reopen on Friday. From Friday until close of business on Sunday, ALL BACK ISSUE COMIC BOOKS are 20% off (your total purchase). That includes all back issue comic books in the boxes, all back issue comic books on the wall, and all back issue comic books in the showcase, as well as back issue comic magazines, and back issue comic book sets. Pick what you need, bring them to the counter, and get 20% off the total. Why are we doing this? Because our backroom is filled with more boxes full of back issue comic books and we need to make room for them.
This Sunday is casual Magic the Gathering from noon until 4pm. We’re very happy to announce that we are now selling single cards, as well.
Coming up later this month we’ve got more Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, as well as in-store signings by New York Times bestselling author Chuck Wendig, indie superstar Armand Rosamilia, the super talented Jessica McHugh, and up-and-comers Damien Casey and Joe Ortlieb. For full details, click here.
We are ecstatic to announce that last Saturday’s signing was our most successful yet — so much, in fact, that we’re thinking about expanding our space to help manage crowd control for events. Sincere thanks to Ronald Malfi, Rebecca Rowland, L. Marie Wood, Jessica McHugh, Vaughn A. Jackson, Stephanie Pearre, Jessica L. Sparrow, Ichabod Cassius Kilroy, John Urbancik, and Raw Dog Screaming Press for blowing the barn doors off.
If you missed out, we do have some signed copies of each of their books still available in store and on our website (for those of you who aren’t local), but quantities are seriously limited. They truly won’t last long.
Author Rio Youers was also in town, and he gifted the store with 21 signed bookplates for his new novel The Bang-Bang Sisters. Here’s how we’re going to work those — pre-order a copy of the book either from our website or in-person here at the store, and you get a signed bookplate free of charge. Offer limited to the first 21 purchasers.
