Escape the Cold
Hello from inside Vortex Books & Comics. Thanks to everyone who made last weekend’s one-year anniversary celebration so successful. We appreciate everyone who came out, particularly given the cold and snow.
That cold snap has continued throughout this week, but the one thing we hear over and over again from customers and browsers is “It’s toasty in here” or “Ahhhh, it’s nice and warm in here” or other variations of that. And it is warm in the store. So, instead of sitting there freezing why not make your way to Vortex and warm yourself up while you browse the books and comics?
The cold is supposed to be gone by Saturday, March 1st, which is good, because that’s the day that Owen King and Clay McLeod Chapman sign at the store (from 1pm to 3pm). They’ll be signing Self Help and Wake Up And Open Your Eyes, along with all of their other books and comics. Due to the expected crowd size, there will be no Q&A. Customers should prepare to stand in line. And that means dress appropriately for the weather. We will have plenty of books in stock. You may also bring ONE (1) item by each of them from home to be signed.
This Sunday, is of course, Magic the Gathering from 11am to 3pm. Free to play. All ages. All styles. Beginners welcome.
This Sunday is also Dungeons & Dragons from 11am to 3pm. $5 entrance fee. New players always welcome. Limited to ages 17 and younger.
NEW ARRIVALS AND STOCK UPDATES
We sold out of our initial shipment of Trad Wife by T C Parker but have more on the way. They are expected next week. Same goes for Eric LaRocca’s latest novel.
We receive a MASSIVE manga shipment later today, so look for the Manga section to be fully restocked by Friday morning.
We’ve restocked on Disney’s Lorcana, Pokémon and Magic the Gathering’s Aetherwind.
Grady Hendrix’s latest novel and Joe R. Lansdale’s latest horror collection are both back in stock.
And in the showcases, we have a hardcover of Strange Weather signed by Joe Hill, a hardcover of The Damnation Game signed by Clive Barker, and a CGC 9.8 Death of Wolverine with the Canadian variant cover.
