Hello from inside the Vortex.
Tonight — Friday the 29th — after the store closes, we will pack up the comic book, magazine, and manga side of the store. Why? Because a film crew is going to transform it into a movie set for a few hours. Specifically, it will look like a 1980s video rental store. But don’t worry! Filming will be done by morning, and the comic book, magazine, and manga side of the store will be returned to normal by Saturday morning.
And speaking of Saturday morning, a reminder that tomorrow — Saturday March 30th — we’ll be joined from 1pm until 4pm by Wesley Southard, Somer Canon, Stephen Kozeniewski, and Wile E. Young, all of whom will be signing books. We will have plenty of copies on hand. You are also welcome to bring books from your home collection to be signed.
Since this is our first signing, I’m sure there will be some small kinks, but hopefully you, the customer, will never notice them. The way we hope it will work is that the four of them will do a Q&A beginning at 1pm. That will last for maybe 20 minutes or so (depending on how many questions you have). Then, after that, they’ll sign books until 4.
A reminder that we will be closed on March 31st, Easter Sunday, so no Magic the Gathering that day. Sunday Magic, by the way, is really starting to take off now. We look forward to seeing you again soon, and hope you have a great holiday.

Best-seller Sarah Langan, Chicago’s Bram Stoker Award-winner Cynthia Pelayo, and Central Pennsylvania’s Bram Stoker Award-nominee Todd Keisling are in the house! There will be a Q&A with them from 1pm until 2pm, and then they will sign books from 2pm until 4pm. We will have books for purchase at the store. You may also bring books from home to be signed (although we ask that if you do, you also make a purchase while at the store as a courtesy).
And a reminder regarding the signings — even if you live on the other side of the world, you can still get your book signed. Just order it from our online store, let us know how you’d like it inscribed, and we’ll mail it to you.
An Important Note: After much debate, we have decided that the store will be temporarily closed from Wednesday April 10th to Sunday April 14th. The reason is threefold. During that week, we must attend author Weston Ochse’s burial at Arlington National Cemetery, and then a reception afterward. Brian also has Scares That Care’s AuthorCon III charity fundraiser (which he is in charge of). And Mary has a family obligation. There is simply no way we can fulfill our obligations and duties to these three events and still have the store be open that week. Our apologies in advance for any inconvenience that may cause. This shouldn’t happen again. It’s just a one-time perfet storm of competing schedules.
Our sincere thanks to all of you! Hope to see you for tomorrow’s signing! And if not then, we hope to see you soon!
— Brian and Mary
