New Year - Who's This?
Hello from inside Vortex Books & Comics, which is now an online only store. This is being typed from our new-new warehouse. Why new-new? Well, for those of you who don’t read Brian’s daily blog (found here on his writing-related website), the roof of the new warehouse sprung a leak, destroying two shelves worth of inventory (ranging from Regina Garza-Mitchell to Steve Gerlach to Christopher Golden to J.F. Gonzalez, and 1 single Amanda Headlee book).
So, while Mary was down with Covid (and sequestered in New Jersey) Brian had to:
Find another new warehouse.
Transfer all the online inventory from the new warehouse to the newer warehouse, because the roofing problems in the new warehouse continued to accelerate, and the warehouse’s management was about as effective as the United Nations security council.
And did all that while still meeting privately at the store with various bulk buyers.
While also processing, packing, and shipping new online orders.
And also trying to be a dad and maintain a professional writing career.
All while fighting a cold (which luckily is not Covid).
So… it has been quite the week here along the banks of the Susquehanna River.
The good news is that the online store is up and running and hundreds of books, comics, and other items are now listed in stock, with hundreds more to come in the weeks ahead. Check it out here. We ship every day except Sunday, and your order will usually go out within 24 hours of you placing it. Our prices are comparable to big online retailers like Amazon — and in some cases, our prices are even better.
A few of our eBay auctions of note this week:
Frayed by Tom Piccirilli, signed and personalized to author James A. Moore and Fiends by John Farris, also signed and personalized to author James A. Moore.
Lot of Night of the Living Dead comics by Clive Barker, Steve Niles, and more.
For a complete look at all of our current auctions, go here. We add new items every week, so check back often.
In addition to the online store and eBay, we are in the process of setting up on WhatNot (by popular demand). However, there is a learning curve involved, so it will be a while yet before we tackle that venue.
Brian will be at the physical store today and throughout the weekend to package up lots for bulk buyers. If you are interested in any fixtures — glass showcases, bookshelves, etc. and are local, stop by. There’s no fixed schedule of when he’ll be there, but if he’s on site, he’ll let you in and make you a deal. First come, first served. No cash will be on hand, so you’ll have to pay using a credit or debit card.
Thanks for your continued patronage, and we’ll see you back here next week.
