Hello from inside the Vortex. As you may remember, we closed last week to attend the funeral of author Weston Ochse, and then to attend AuthorCon III (a Scares That Care charity event). Well, now we’re back and open again, and we have a TON of new inventory. New books! New comics! New back issues! New pulps! And new Magic the Gathering and role-playing game supplies!
Thanks to everyone who came out for Sarah Langan, Cynthia Pelayo, and Todd Keisling’s in-store appearance. All three of them were kind enough to sign what was left at the end of the day, which wasn’t much. Indeed, we’ve since sold out of Todd’s remaining signed copies, and are getting very low on Sarah and Cynthia’s. So, if you missed the signing, and want to snag an autographed copy, I’d recommend getting into the store this week.
Those of you who live far away can still get autographed copies as well, via our web store.
This Saturday, author Carolyn Kleinman will be in the store from 1pm to 4pm, signing copies of The Class Assignment Is Murder — a thriller set in Lancaster and based on a true crime event from the 1990s. Again, if you are unable to attend in person, you can pre-order a signed copy via our online store.
Then, this Sunday, Magic the Gathering makes its return from noon until 4pm. And now that we’ve got Magic cards in stock, we suspect attendance will be higher than ever.
On Friday, April 26th, Wesley Southard will host our first Free Movie Night. And Saturday, April 27th is Independent Bookstore Day. We’ll be celebrating with 10% OFF ALL PURCHASES all day! Also coming up in the weeks ahead: a D&D Character Creation workshop, the monthly Vortex Writer Group meeting, Free Comic Books Day, and signings from John Urbancik, Jessica Eppley, Matt Wildasin, and more. Check out the complete list of upcoming events here.
